Journal Lab is a monthly “community of practice” space focused on journal-keeping, broadly conceived. In Journal Lab, participants - who may or may not have any amount of experience with keeping journals, sketchbooks, diaries, etc. - come together to share insights from their practices, experiment together with new techniques, and journal quietly together. In each 2-hour session, Esther provides a structure for optional participant sharing about their personal journal material ("journal show-and-tell"). Esther also provides some activities (journal experiments) drawn from their own experience and studies of journal-keeping pedagogy. Participants will be invited to teach the group (with the facilitator's support!) about techniques they like to use and/or perhaps invented themselves.

This 6-week acrylic painting course is designed for students with some prior painting experience who are ready to continue growing their skills and creative voice. Join painter Payton James for an inspiring 3-day art retreat designed for adults of all skill levels. Nestled in the heart of downtown Ypsi, this retreat feels like summer art camp for adults! Immerse yourself in color and brushwork through painting sessions and find your creative flow. While this retreat is geared towards acrylic painting, all painting and drawing media are welcome.
