When we do natural dyeing, we'll scour and mordant fabric (and mordant yarn) using non-toxic mordants from the grocery aisle (alum and cream of tartar). On a separate day, we'll dye yarn and apply various surface techniques to dye fabric. Dyestuffs will most likely include goldenrod, pokeberry, and black walnut. Participants are welcome to bring their own dyestuffs to experiment!
We’ll also experiment with bleach pens and possibly other discharge techniques, turn soft wool fibers into felted designs, and make a woven artwork!
